James A. Sumption

South Bend - James A. Sumption, 81, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021.

James was born June 2, 1940 to the late Arthur James Sumption and Ila F. (Williams) Sumption who both preceded him in death.

Left to cherish the memory of James is his loving wife of 60 years, Susan, along with their children, Arthur (Jim) J. Sumption, Dan P. (Dawn) Sumption, Jennifer S. (Jason) Turner; grandchildren, Stephanie L. Sumption, Meagan E. (Dominick) Sumption-Rodriquez, Brooke L. Sumption, Alex J. Reed; and brother, Robert (Diane) Sumption.

James was an Electronic Sales Person for Radio Distributing Company for 25 years, Maintenance Manager at Industrial Packaging in South Bend, Indiana and then retired from FAPCO Inc. in Buchanan, Michigan.

He was a longtime Ham Radio Operator (W9JAS), formerly K9YCA. He was a member of Michiana Amateur Radio Club. He was Scout Master for Cub Scouts #311 in Lydick, Indiana. He enjoyed Electronics. He loved Camping in Northern Michigan and watching the lake freighters and visiting light houses.

He was also a member of Epworth Memorial United Methodist Church, South Bend for 60 years.

ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. is assisting the family.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, 11 S. LaSalle St., Chicago, IL 60611 or the American Heart Association, 300 S. Riverside Plaza Bldg., Chicago, IL 60606.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services or visitation for James.
