In Memory

Milton H Corona - Class Of 1947

Milton H. Corona

July 17, 1929 - March 4, 2018

SOUTH BEND - Mr. Corona, 88, was a recent resident of Charlotte, NC, having lived most of his life in South Bend, IN. After high school (John Adams class of 1947) he served in the Navy stationed at both the Great Lakes Naval Base north of Chicago and the San Diego Naval Base. He later went on to attend the University of Notre Dame.

Mr. Corona (Milt) made his living in sales for Bankers Life Insurance, Combined Insurance, Fisher Brothers, and Stanz Cheese. Milt developed a love of golf while still in high school, playing the game well into his 80's.

A member of Saint Thérèse, Little Flower Catholic Church since 1958, he was active in Cursillo, Food for Families, the church choir, pastoral and financial councils, and other volunteer activities. In retirement, he delivered Meals-on-Wheels and attended courses provided through Forever Learning.

Milt was the son of Prof. Jose C. Corona and Veronica A. (Hughes) Corona; husband of Theodolinde G. (Popko) Corona; and brother to Carlos and Joseph, all predeceased.

Left to cherish his memory are son and daughters, John Corona of Highland, IN, Mary Beall (Mark) of Charlotte, NC, and Karen Docktor (David) of Avondale, AZ; grandchildren, Sean Eagan (Celia), Michael Eagan, and Catherine Beall, relatives in the U.S. and Mexico, and many dear friends.

Milt was a gentle soul with simple tastes and unfailing good humor. For him, his own discomfort was no excuse for failing to show kindness and respect to everyone he met.

He was pleased, but not surprised, when people were kind and respectful in return.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 9 at 11 am at Saint Thérèse, Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Rd., South Bend, IN 46635. Burial at Highland Cemetery will follow Mass.

Memorial donations may be made to Saint Thérèse, Little Flower Catholic Church.
