Steven James Largent
Steven James Largent passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, after a long battle with cancer on February 20, 2024, at the age of 64. He was born in South Bend, IN on March 31, 1959 to the late Arthur and Florence (McGreevey) Largent. Steven is survived by his wife, Monica Mueller Laidig; four children, Bradley (Cara) Largent, Ben Largent, Ava Marie Laidig, and Janel Wilson; six grandchildren; sister, Nancy (Charles) Campbell, and his brother, David (Carol) Largent.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Noah Thomas Laidig; his brother, Fr. Jeff Largent and late spouse, Karen Kuespert.
In his 40 years of work, Steve was educated, successful and a logistics genius. Family, however, was always his highest priority. He will be remembered as someone who was genuine, kind and always willing to help others. Steve enjoyed hockey, ND football, and yardwork. He kept beautiful gardens that stand as memorials to his work ethic and his enduring belief that ours is a beautiful world.
Over the last 17 years, Steve and Monica built a life they truly loved. Steve was looking forward to retirement and the next chapter they were planning together. He fought hard to stay as long as possible providing his family and friends with a legacy of devotion and a love for life. The family is heartbroken that he was taken so soon. The world will be much less bright without him.
At Steven’s request, services, burial and celebration of life will take place at a later date. Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel is assisting his family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Research Institute or the Northwestern Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant program.
