Martha Ann Knapp

Martha Ann Knapp passed away peacefully Friday, September 23, 2022, at Memorial Hospital with her husband and daughter at her bedside. Martha was born on October 16, 1954, to Rudy and Patricia DeVolder in South Bend.

On September 24, 1977, she was married to Edward A. Knapp at Christ the King Church in South Bend.

Marti is survived by her husband, Ed, of Granger; daughter, Amy Eileen Knapp (Demond Hesiben), of South Bend; and beloved grandchildren, Sgt. Jaylen Knapp-Petty US Army serving at Fort Riley, KS., Alana Hesiben, Shatera Grayckowski, and Denoira Abner, all of South Bend.

Marti is also survived by her mother, Patricia DeVolder; sisters, Mari Kay (Gary) McStay, Marcia (Paul) Abrams, and Maureen (Bob) Jamieson; brothers, John, Andy (Maria), and Patrick DeVolder; and by a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws and many friends.

Marti was preceded in death by her father, Rudy and a special great aunt, Eileen Bryant.

Marti was a religious education teacher at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Parish for 13 years and for 5 years at Christ the King Catholic Parish. Marti was a friend to everyone she met. She loved spending time with her family and the many years spent at the family cottage on Donnell Lake, Michigan.

Marti attended Christ the King grade school and was a 1973 Clay High School graduate. She served on many high school reunion boards for her class. When Jay was born, she retired from Richmond Master Distributors, Inc where she worked in Inventory Control to care for Jay while Amy finished college and graduate school.

Services will be at 11 am on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Christ the King Church, 52473 State Hwy 933, South Bend, IN 46637 with visitation 1 hour prior in the church.

In memory of Marti, contributions can be made to either The Christ Child Society of South Bend or Ronald McDonald House Charities.
