Judith Anne Buzas (McMenemy) - Class Of 1978 VIEW PROFILE

Judith Anne Buzas (McMenemy)

JUDITH ANN MCMENEMY, devoted wife, caring mother, loving Mamaw, sister, daughter, aunt and Miss Southwest passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021. A fitting date for someone who was destined to go out with a bang. Judy was born on May 21, 1960 to parents Ramona and Alex Buzas in the Mecca of College Football, South Bend, Indiana-home of Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football. It is here that she became a die-hard Irish fan, which continued until the time of her passing. She graduated from Clay High School, where she met the love of her life and future husband, Ron McMenemy. As the love story is told, in Junior High, Judy saw Ron outside of a bus window and told her friend that one day she was going to marry him. It was not until High School when Judy and Ron started their 43 year romance. After high school, Judy and Ron stayed together and continued to grow their love even though they were thousands of miles apart while Ron attended college at the University of Nevada, Reno and Judy attended Travel School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During the time of no cellphones, the broke love birds would often call each other "collect" with fake names so the other person did not get charged but knew the other is saying hi. On July 11, 1981- exactly 40 years to the date of her burial-Judy and Ron married in South Bend, Indiana. Shortly thereafter, they embarked on a new journey to a growing city in the middle of the Mojave Desert, Las Vegas, Nevada. While working as an accountant for law firms, Judy gave birth to three beautiful children, Dustin, Ian and Chelsey. In 1989, Judy landed her dream job working for Southwest Airlines. She was passionate about her time at Southwest and was loved and respected by all her co-workers. Each day, Miss Southwest lived her life-whether at work or personal-to upholding the company's three core values (Warrior Spirit, Servant's Heart and Fun-LUVing Attitude). After 32 years of service and earning "Legend" status from her co-workers, she retired from Southwest Airlines after the company turned a half century. In her free time, the "Sun Goddess" perfected the year-long tan, became a Cancun local, watched Notre Dame Football and Golden Knights hockey games; drained her Ipad's battery playing Candy Crush and was one of the last people who still read the daily newspaper. She loved the holidays and always made sure there was plenty of food and decorations. If you ever mentioned something you wanted for your birthday or Christmas, Judy remembered. She enjoyed time with family, close friends and playing board games. She was stubborn and strong, but had a heart of gold. She had long lasting friendships and was considered an aunt or second mom to many. She was first to worry about others and never complained, even at the end while this warrior fought through radiation, chemo, and physical therapy. She will be missed by all and remembered in the best light. She is survived by her "One and Only", Ron McMenemy; children, Dustin, Ian and Chelsey; grandchildren, Vienna, Kayden, LilliAnn, Kingsley, and yet to be born twin girls, MaryLou and MadiLyn; siblings, Donna, Alex "Shunny", and Paul; mom, Ramona; and many cousins, nephews, nieces and close friends, whom she considered family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to "Dress for Success of Southern Nevada"
