SHANNON NORTH OBITUARY

Shannon Elizabeth North July 13, 1977 - Mar. 22, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Shannon Elizabeth North passed away early Saturday morning, March 22, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a ferocious fight with a lion. In the end the lion won, but you should see the lion! Shannon was a beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend.

She is survived by her husband, Gregg, her three children, Caleb, Marlee and Drew; her parents, Patricia Catanzarite, Adrian D. and Sandra Stackhouse; her brothers, A. D. (Tess) Stackhouse and Ryan (Audrey) Brown; nieces and nephews; her grandparents, Fritz and Ann Leman, Irene Singleton; aunts, uncles, and cousins from all sides of her family (Leman, Stackhouse, Lloyd, North); as well as her dearest friends in life: Laura, Chama, Marcia and Esa.

Her untimely death was preceded by her late sister, Kelly Brown, and her late cousin, Elizabeth Leman.

Shannon was born in Philadelphia on July 13, 1977. She grew up in South Bend, Indiana, where she attended Clay High School. She was a championship swimmer, ranger runner, and scholar. Academically, Shannon was in the top of her class in high school, college, and graduate school where she earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree in English from Indiana University. She was a school teacher at Harrison and Navarre as well as a college instructor at Ivy Tech.

She loved reading, writing, poetry, music, world cultures, and all aspects of life. She leaves behind a legacy worthy of remembrance. She was a loving and amazing woman who will be dearly missed by all who knew her, especially her children, whom she loved more than anything.

Memorial services will be held at 12 noon Monday, March 24, 2014, at Saint Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church, 53720 N. Ironwood, South Bend, IN. The Reverend Matthew Cowden will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. Monday until time of services at church. Inurnment and Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Contributions in memory of Shannon may be offered to Cystic Dreams, 35 Weathervane Drive, Leominster, MA 01453; or to Kelly Brown Scholarship Fund, Memorial Health Foundation, Attn: Kellie Porter, 615 N. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46601. Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, South Bend, is assisting the family with arrangements.
