PEORIA, IL - Sara Jane Ellison, 53, of 5000 N. Endres Ave., Peoria, Ill., passed away at 8:05 p.m Wednesday, near Hill City, Kan.
She was born on March 31, 1943, in South Bend, Ind., to Ernest and Arlene Taylor Greenwood. She married Ned A. Ellison on July 24, 1965 in Granger, Ind. He preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 1994, in Peoria, Ill.
Surviving are her mother Arlene Greenwood of South Bend; four sons, Jonathan Allen Ellison of Peoria, Clark Brandes Ellison of Miami, Fla., David Ernest Ellison of Oak Harbor, Wash. and Andrew Brent Ellison of Peoria; four sisters, Patricia Stein of Mishawaka, Ind., Elsie Everett of Villa Park, Calif., Suzanne McDonald of LaPorte, Ind. and Deborah Carnes of Granger, Ind.
Her father and husband preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ellison attended First Baptist Church in Peoria. She was a past president of Peoria Woman's Civic Federation. She was a member of the Home Economist in Homemaking group in Peoria. She was a member of the Consumer Credit Counseling Service, also in Peoria, where she served as secretary. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In addition, she was an AFS officer at Woodruff High School in Peoria.
She worked for Westat Inc., out of Rockville, Md., as a research surveyor for the past 1 and a half years.
Services will be at 7 p.m., Monday, in Cumerford-Endsley-Diggle Funeral Home, 428 W. McClure Ave., Peoria, Ill., where visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Additional services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, in the Harris Prairie Church of Christ in Granger, Ind. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., at the church. Burial will be in Harris Prairie Cemetery, Granger, following the church service.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate in Peoria, Ill., to the American Cancer Society or to Woman's Strength in Peoria.
