Joyce “Jo” E. Becker, 72, residing in South Bend, passed away at 3:36 am Wednesday, September 30, 2015 in her home. She was born June 16, 1943 in South Bend to the late Floyd and Lillian (Demmon) Whetham, and remained a lifelong area resident.
On June 24, 1961 in Christ the King Catholic Church, South Bend, Jo married Paul J. Becker, who survives. In addition to her loving husband of 54 years, she is survived by children, Paul D. (Chris) Becker of Brighton, England, Bradley K. (Lee Baker) Becker of Phoenix, AZ, Stacey (Sean) Gray of South Bend and Jodi (David) Donathen, also of South Bend; and three grandchildren, Kevin and Lauren Gray and Alexis Donathen. She is also survived by her sister, Janice (Larry) Hill of Elkhart; brother, Keith (Betty) Whetham of Granger; brother-in-law, Bill “William J.” Becker of South Bend; and sister, Linda Becker of Granger; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Marilyn Becker; and brother-in-law, Harry Becker.
Jo was a lifelong member of Christ the King Catholic Church in South Bend. She worked as a nurse in the office of Dr. Thomas Bathrick, and enjoyed spending her free time baking. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Monday, October 5, 2015 in Christ the King Catholic Church, 52473 Indiana State Rd 933, South Bend. Private burial will take place at a later date. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
