Nyla Annette Easton (Crawford)

NYLA A. EASTON-CRAWFORD

March 19, 2013 SOUTH BEND - Nyla Annette Easton-Crawford, affectionately known as Nett, was suddenly called to be with her Lord and Savior the morning of March 19 after succumbing to heart disease at the age of 47.

Nett resided in Decatur, Georgia for over 20 years, but was born and raised, in South Bend, Indiana, where she graduated from Clay High School and lived the majority of her life.

Nett knew her calling was to care for others. Blessed with an extremely rare giving heart, Nett worked in the childcare field most of her life, routinely adopted neighborhood kids as her own, and cherished the host of nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces/nephews who filled her life. Nett was loved and adored for her heart of gold by many. However, no one knew better the true value of Nett's giving spirit than her 16 year-old sister, Sandra Denise (Niecy) Easton. At the age of 24, Nett added 10 more years to her sister's life when she selflessly donated one of her kidneys to her sibling. Niecy lost her long battle fighting renal failure when she passed away in 1998.

Nett is survived by her husband, Lindsey Crawford and son, Dante Crawford both of this city; father, Charles Easton Sr., mother, Sharon L. Easton; sisters, Scarlett (Ernie) Easton-Anderson, Barbara Johnson, Yolanda Washington, Sabrina Easton, and Amina Jackson; brothers, Charles Easton Jr., Noel Easton, and Deprist Easton all of South Bend, Indiana; and sisters, Cherri (Paul) Williams and Sharon Elaine (Eric) Johnson, both of Atlanta, Georgia.

Friends may visit 1 p.m.-8 p.m. Sunday, March 24 and attend Nett's Homegoing Celebration at 1 p.m. Monday, March 25 at Raleigh Rucker Funeral Home at 2199 Candler Road, Decatur, GA 30032.
