Arthur J. Reed

Arthur "Art" J. Reed, 78, of South Bend, IN died at 8:00 PM Sunday, April 8,
2007 at Holy Cross Care & Rehab Center, South Bend. Art was employed with Fuller
O'Brien Paint Company for forty-eight years and also worked as a carpenter. He
was born on January 10, 1929 in South Bend, IN to Arthur L. and Anabelle
(Morris) Reed and was a lifelong resident. On November 29, 1952 in Roseland, IN
he married Gertrude "Trudy" Redfern who survives.
Along with his loving wife, Trudy Reed, he is survived by his daughter, Vickie
(William) Goedde of Kalida, OH; his son, Michael (Joan) Reed of Springfield, IL;
five grandchildren, Dawn (Jared) Burgei, Wendy (Josh) Friedrich, Matthew (Lori)
Goedde, Carol (Shannon) Donley, and Nathan Goedde; three great grandchildren;
sister, Mary Dolph of New Carlisle; and two brothers, Herman (Dixie) Reed of
Rock Island, IL and John (Sally) Reed of Milton Freewater, OR. He was preceded
in death by two sisters, Martha Reed and Anna Bergenhagen.
Art was a fifty-year member of Northway Church of Christ, South Bend and served
as an Elder for over forty years.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, April 12, 2007 at Palmer
Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend. Rev. Ed Erskin, pastor
of Northway Church of Christ will officiate. Private burial will take place in
St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN.
Contributions in memory of Art Reed may be offered to Northway Church of Christ
