BERRIEN CENTER - William “Bill” J. Rose, 89, of Berrien Center, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Orchard Grove Nursing Home in Benton Harbor, MI.

Bill was born September 18, 1926 in South Bend, IN to the late Harriet and Merton Rose. He attended Clay High School in Roseland. On October 16, 1948, Bill married Phyllis Cochran at Bertrand Bible Church in Niles. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and a member of First Baptist Church of Niles. After working 20 years at Sarley Heating in Niles, Bill and Phyllis bought the company in October 1978 and he retired in October 2000.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Phyllis; sons, Gary (Cindy) Rose of Berrien Center, MI , Layne (Jennie) Rose of Eau Claire, MI; grandchildren, Josh (Colene), Matthew, Eric and Melissa; great grandchildren, Gemma and Shelby and sister, Joan Maxwell

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Harriet and Merton and sisters, Helen Fischer and Lois Crumet.

Funeral services for Bill will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan with Pastor Jim Wing officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Berrien Center where full military honors will be rendered by the Berrien Springs American Legion Post 85 and the United States Navy. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 5, 2016 from 5-7 pm also at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.
