Kenneth Kanczuzewski

Kenneth Kanczuzewski

We are sad to announce the passing of Kenneth Kanczuzewski of South Bend, Indiana. Ken passed on his birthday on March 20, 2023 at the age of 64 after a long battle with cancer.

Ken was a longtime business owner with an incredible heart for his family, friends, and the South Bend community. He was truly a renaissance man. While Ken had no formal education beyond Clay High School, in practice he was an entrepreneur, architect, electrician, plumber, engineer, and anything else he set his mind to be. On November 24, 1979 Ken married Christine Olmstead. They spent 43 years together with many celebrations and parties in between.

He selflessly donated his extraordinary talents in renovating the Izaak Walton League nature lodge and surrounding park, building a gym to support the community, and helping loved ones any time he was needed. When he wasn’t tirelessly supporting those around him, Ken loved nature, cooking, hosting parties, playing guitar, telling bad jokes, and his Chesapeake Bay Retrievers.

Ken is survived by his wife Christine and his three sons, Kenson Kanczuzewski, Kael (Sarah) Kanczuzewski, and Kaine (Ciara) Kanczuzewski all of South Bend, Indiana; five grandchildren, Leo, Maximilian, Millicent, Arthur, and Eleanor; his father and mother, Leonard and Sylvia Kanczuzewski of Cassopolis, Michigan; and two brothers, Timothy (Cynthia) Kanczuzewski and Christopher (Lori) Kanczuzewski both of South Bend, Indiana. Kenneth was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristel; two sisters, Karen Jasinski and Renée Trulli; and his brother, Thomas Kanczuzewski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023 in Christ the King Catholic Church. A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday April 14, 2023 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana, where a rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Chesapeake Bay Retriever Relief and Rescue or to the local Potawatomi Zoo.
