SOUTH BEND - Michael Eugene Dobrzykowski, age 62 years of South Bend, Indiana died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, December 6, 2016 at his home following an illness.

He was born on August 20, 1954 in South Bend to Eugene and Emalee (Krochmal) Dobrzykowski. He was graduated from South Bend Clay High School, and joined the United States Marine Corps which he served for three years, and was honorably discharged as a veteran of the Viet Nam Era. He earned an Associates degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana and was employed in the recreational vehicle industry most of his life, including many years at Forest River, Inc.

Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing, and tent camping. He also enjoyed reading - mostly about automobile racing, especially NASCAR - and was able to diagnose and repair most automotive issues. He loved spending time with his family, and many nieces and nephews have benefited from his home repair and improvement skills.

On September 10, 1982 at the Assembly of God in Niles, Michigan he married the former Becky Suzanne Bridges with whom he celebrated last September the thirty-fourth anniversary of their wedding.

Surviving family includes his wife, Becky Dobrzykowski; his sister, Cindy (& Lester) Martin of Mishawaka, Indiana and her daughters, Danielle and Melissa; a step-sister, Michelle Collingsworth of South Bend; and Becky's siblings, Larry, Peggy, Dorothy, Cathy, Judy, Nancy, Sharon, and Betty; and all of their children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a thirteen year old nephew, Adam Martin.

The funeral service for Michael Dobrzykowski will be at Noon on Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home in Niles with Pastor William “Skip” MacCarty, D.Min. of Berrien Springs, Michigan officiating. The service will conclude with the Veteran's Flag Presentation and “Taps” by the United States Marine Corps. Interment will be private on a later date at Mission Hills.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
