SHAWN D. WORKS

Jan. 26, 1975 - Jan. 3, 2013
SOUTH BEND - Shawn DeAngelo Works, 37, of South Bend, IN, dearly loved husband, father, brother, uncle, son and friend, passed away with his beloved wife by his side on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at 10:02 pm, after a courageous 6-year battle with cancer.

Shawn was born January 26, 1975, in South Bend, Indiana, to the union of Raymond C. Works and Judy K. Works.

Shawn was baptized by Pastor Kevin Parker of River of Life Church during his fight for peace, and practiced a private spiritual connection with God. For the duration of his life he devoted much time as a talented basketball guard, explored the many secrets of world history, and took great pride in motivating our youth by explaining his personal journey.

He graduated from Clay High School in 1994 and then proceeded to excel in college with an Associate in Liberal Arts from Indiana State University. Shawn also served time contemplating his actions as a young adult. This helped to mature him into the man who he was raised to be. Shawn was active in his personal ministry and in the community by sharing the passionate experiences and consequences he had endured in his lifetime with our community's youth. Like his father, Raymond C. Works, Shawn lived by Galatians 6:2 "Bear ye one another's burden..." when advising or counseling others.

Shawn is survived by his wife, Michelle Works; sons, Tevin Alexander Works and Prince DeAngelo Works; mothers, Judy Works (Mack), Elsa Works (Michael), and Pearl Lloyd; father-in-law, Leroy Lloyd (Victoria); sisters, Carmen Works (Martin), Ronda Works (Jayson) and Jaimee Works (Anthoney); grandparents, Allen Marie Pawlicki, Gillom Works and Dora Yvonne Moore (Daniel); nephews, Tyson Stopczynski, Chris Krause Jr., Camren Krause, Martin Johnson Jr. and Kenneth Conlee-Lloyd; brother-in-law, Kenneth Lloyd Sr. (Mecca); aunts and uncles, Dorothy Neal, Bonnie Campbell, Carl Works, Jerry Works (Gina), Nancy Ross, Rosetta Brown, Larry Brown, Lynda Savanick, Marty Savanick, Diane McCreary, Kenneth McCreary Sr., William/ Boobie McCreary (Mitzy), Wendy Moore and Joanne Turner (Michael).
