John Thomas Brame

Apr. 24, 1943 - May 3, 2004

John Thomas "Tom" Brame, 61, of South Bend, Ind., passed away following an illness on Monday, May 3, in his home.

He was born on April 24, 1943, in LaPorte, Ind., to the late John and Erma (Cool) Brame. On June 11, 1966, in South Bend, Tom married Margaret Prister.

Tom retired in 2001 from Ameritech where he had worked as a repairman. After retiring, he had worked at the University of Notre Dame Golf Course. He was a member of The Pioneers of the Telephone Company, Little Flower Catholic Church, American Turners, the South Bend Bowling Association where he also served as the president and vice president, South Bend Bowling Hall of Fame, was an usher at the Notre Dame football games, and had been the Junior Bowling Coach as well as a lane coordinator. Some of Tom's hobbies included bowling, golfing, softball, racquet ball and the Indy 500.

Tom is survived by his wife, Margaret; his daughter, Debi (Tim) Beehler of South Bend; two granddaughters, Grace and Gabrielle Beehler, both of South Bend; and by his sister, Marilyn Leavitt of British Columbia

Friends visited with the family Wednesday, May 5, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today, May 6, in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions to Junior Bowlers: "South Bend Bowling Association Tom Brame Scholarship Fund," c/o First Source Bank, 52990 US Rt. 31, South Bend, IN 46637.
