Robert W. Sante, 61, of Somerset Avenue, Mishawaka, passed away after an extended illness at 5:30 AM Monday, September 19, 2005, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

Bob was born on November 23, 1943, in South Bend, to the late Fred and Betty (Olmstead) Sante.

On September 29, 1973, he marred the former Nancy Nelson. Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy of Mishawaka; his children, Heather, Holly Heidi, Justin, Brian, Jennifer and Kimberly; two grandchildren, Isaac and Kayla; one sister, Barbara Wiles of Mishawaka; and one brother, Martin Sante of South Bend. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews.

He was a graduate of Washington Clay High School and Indiana University. He proudly served his country in the Army and was honorably discharged. Bob was with the Area Plan Commission since 1988 and director for the past eight years. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends who loved him so much. His courage and determination were an inspiration to all. As he made his transition, he was surrounded by his loved ones.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM today, September 21, 2005, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10076 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 22, 2005, in the funeral home, with Rev. Barbara Jung officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Adams Place for Kids, 4471 E. Shore Drive, Bremen, IN 46506, which benefits homeless and neglected children with a safe, nurturing environment. Adams Place for Kids (APFKI) is a not-for-profit foundation formed by Mr. Sante's daughter, Holly.
