Diane Josephine Riggle

SOUTH BEND - Diane J. Riggle, 74, of South Bend, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Hospice House, Elkhart. Diane was born October 18, 1942, in South Bend, to the late Robert and Lela May McNary (Downs) Steiner.
On December 26, 1971, in South Bend, Diane Steiner married Donald K. Riggle, who passed away September 9, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her son, David D. Riggle, on August 28, 1992. Diane is survived by her daughter, Julie Ann Bohannon of South Bend; three grandchildren, Travis (Krysten) Burnham, April Burnham, both of Alabama, and Aubrey Bohannon of Walkerton, IN; five great-grandchildren, Tannor, Bryce, Evan, Carter, and Laila; nephew, Danny (Mary Ann) Ullery of South Bend; great-nephew, Terry Leinen of South Bend; and several other nieces and nephews.
Diane retired from South Bend Community School Corporation, working in the kitchen. Diane was a member of the Red Hat Society, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren on her trips to Alabama, cheering on Notre Dame football, Chicago Cubs, traveling with her entire family to the Gulf of Mexico, in Panama City, Florida, and last but not least, traveling with Donald to Mexico and Alaska, and many other destinations. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, March 30th, from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 31st, at the funeral home, with Rev. Garry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
