GREGORY W. GOUGH

March 11, 1964 - Sept. 19, 2013
SOUTH BEND - Gregory W. Gough, 49, residing in Encinitas, CA, passed away in his sleep on September 19, 2013. He was born March 11, 1964, in Marion, VA, to William and Betty Gough.

He had lived in California for the last 12 years, coming from Chicago. Greg graduated from South Bend Clay High School in 1982 and earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University in 1987. He worked at AT&T for 20 years before passing away. Throughout his employment, his focus was on the development of fiber optics and DSL. He was an expert in his field and presented at DSL conferences globally and enjoyed participating in Broadband Forum.

Greg is survived by his parents, Bill and Betty Gough of South Bend; his girlfriend of many years, Masami Scheuch of Encinitas, CA; sisters, Catherine (John) French of Angola, IN, and Jane (John) Kolo of Granger; brother, Ross (Barb) Gough of Foothill Ranch, CA; and nieces and nephews, Jordan and Ali French, Alex and Laura Gough, and Taylor and Mackenzie Kolo.

Greg and Masami hiked and explored the mountains and deserts of California. Living only a mile from Encinitas Beach, he particularly enjoyed sunsets and often searched for "green flashes." Greg enjoyed life to its fullest with many adventures, yet home and family were his passion. Grilling, preparing food with Masami and entertaining friends was special to Greg. He was a voracious reader of history and enjoyed various discussions with his friends as he was knowledgeable on many topics. He attended every Indy 500 race and was an avid Colts and Boilermaker fan. Greg will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
