Charles Walter Bybee, Sr.

Charles W. Bybee, Sr., 87 of Niles, passed away at home after an extended illness.

Charles was born on February 17, 1931 in South Bend to the late John and Grace (Copeland) Bybee, Sr. He is also preceded in death by his daughter Sheryl Marie Bybee, granddaughter Ashley Schaefer Stahl, his brother John L. Bybee, Jr., sisters Judy Grall and Verna Gillette.

Charles is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary E. Bybee, his children; Pamela (Gregory) Much of Jackson Township, OH, Charles W. (Maureen) Bybee, Jr. of Mishawaka, Debra (Eric) Schaefer of Lakeville, IN. Step-Children; Susan (Kenneth) Foster of Middleville, MI, Corky (Tracey) Miller of Anahuac, TX, a Special Daughter-in-law Su Bybee of Mishawaka, grandchildren; Michelle (Ryan) Carey, Keith Much, Angela (Brian) Garber, Lauren Bybee, Megan (Danny Sandoval) Bybee, Sara Schaefer, Valerie (Chris) Filiberto, Mary Elaine (Bobby) Roush, Allyson Foster, David (Jillian) Foster, Kellan, Ian, and Brody Miller, great-grandchildren; Kyle, Carter and Cameron Carey, Bradly, Jakob and Evann Garber, Luca Filiberto and Olive and Graham Roush, and his sister Mary Sayers of Granger.

Charles worked as a Buyer for Clark Equipment in Buchanan and retired from there on March 1, 1986. He was a member of Hope Community Church. Charles enjoyed playing golf on the Clark Golf League.

Visitation for Charles will be on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 5pm to 8pm at Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home 615 E. Main St. Niles. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 19 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Mission Hills Memorial Cemetery.
