Elaine J. York, 74, of South Bend, passed away Monday afternoon April 4, 2005, in Fountainview Place, Mishawaka.

Born March 2, 1931, in South Bend, to the late Daniel and Rose (Koloszar) Plew. On August 26, 1950, at the First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka, she married James York, who survives to cherish her memory along with her son, Patrick A. and wife, Cindy York of Osceola, and the apple of her eye, her grandson, Jamie York.

Mrs. York worked many years for Peter Echrich and Sons and the Standard Oil Company in South Bend and Sacramento, Calif. She was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, loved to garden and enjoyed watching the wild birds. Her humor and caring for others will be remembered always.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, April 8, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North 17033 Cleveland Road. Father Neil Riley, C.S.C,. of Little Flower Catholic Church, will officiating and entombment will be at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, following services. Friends may call in the funeral home today April 7 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
