ELKHARTDeborah Louise (Greenwood) Carnes, 58, passed away at her home in Elkhart, Indiana, on April 7th, 2010.

She was born December 8, 1951, in South Bend, Indiana, to Ernest Fuller and Arlene Greenwood. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by two sisters, Patrica Stein and Sara Ellison.

She is survived by William Charles Carnes, who she married on August 19, 1972, in Harris Prairie Church of Christ. She is also survived by her two sisters, Elsie Everett of Villa Park, CA, and Susan McDonald of LaPorte; three sons, Chris (Brandi) of Granger, Randall (Meredithe) of South Bend and Charles (Jill) of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren (Zachary, Kayla, Brenna, Madelyn, Robert, Caitlyn and Amelia); and her annoying ankle-biter named Roxy.

Deborah was a member of Clay High School's graduating class of 1970 and attended the South Bend College of Commerce and IUSB. She was an active member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Schuyler Colfax Chapter.

She enjoyed traveling with her family, especially the trips to Germany, England and Mexico, and the winter vacations to the Florida Keys with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time scrapbooking, knitting, listening to the Beach Boys, SCUBA diving, reading John Grisham novels, riding on the back of Bill's Harley from Sturgis, South Dakota, to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

She took great pleasure in founding and operating two companies, B.C. Welding, Inc., and Granger Underwater Services, and in fellowship at Northway Church of Christ.

Visitation will be held in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka, IN, on Friday, April 9th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.

We will be celebrating Deborah's life at Michiana Church of God, 51637 Ash Road, Granger, on Saturday, April 10th, with a visitation from 1 to 3 PM, with services starting at 3 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Deborah may be made in the form of a donation to the American Cancer Society, to the American Diabetes Association, and to Goshen General Hospital Care at Home & Hospice Services.
