THOMAS E. BERK

March 28, 1953 - March 4, 2010
NILES - Thomas Edmund Berk, 56 years old, of Niles, MI, passed to his rest on Thursday, March 4, 2010, at his home from an apparent heart attack. Tom was born on March 28, 1953, in LaPorte, IN, the son of Robert E. and Betty (Wood) Berk.

He graduated from Clay High School and had two years of college. He was the owner of Sourse Distributing in South Bend, and he was a pharmaceutical distributor. Tom was an excellent carpenter, doing most of his artistic work at his home where he could build anything.

He was married on July 4, 1998, at his home in Niles, to Karen Lee (Hunt) Creech, who survives. Also surviving are his father, Robert E. Berg of Niles; one son, Joshua Berk of Arizona; and two stepchildren, Steven Joseph Creech of Clinton, SC, and Lane Hannan Creech at home. He has two sisters, Jacki Hans of Mishawaka and Marie "Kate" (Dan) Bergman of South Bend. There are several nieces and nephews, and three great-nephews.

Friends may gather with the family on Wednesday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on March 10, 2010, in the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 West Main (US-12) in Edwardsburg. There will be a service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Charles Mwale of Faith Missions of Elkhart. Cremation will follow the service. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Faith Missions of Elkhart, P.O. Box 162, Elkhart, IN 46516-3237.
