William Richard Andrews

Jul. 19, 1962 - Sep. 21, 2021

William Richard Andrews, Jr., 59 years old, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at his residence in South Bend. He was born July 19, 1962 in South Bend, to the late William Richard Sr. and Carol Joy (Long) Andrews. On August 29, 1987 in Goshen, Bill married the love of his life, Debra Sue Heiland, who passed away in 2005.

Bill was a lifelong resident of Michiana. He worked in the Steel industry for over 30 years – working at Eaton, Lock Joint Tube, and General Machine & Saw Company. He also owned a sprinkler system business called the Rainmaker. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Marines. He was very proud of his time in the service and was a major supporter for the Disabled American Veterans. Bill was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Notre Dame. He loved to golf, bowl, fish, hunt, play card games, and work on puzzles. He was also a member of the Turners Softball League for many years and played in numerous horseshoe tournaments. He loved coaching his children's sports teams. However, one of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his family – especially his grandkids.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Amy (Joshua) Atwood of South Bend, and Kaitlyn Andrews of North Liberty; son, Jason Andrews of East Lansing, MI; four grandchildren, Elyn, Emery, Elsie, and Elijah; sisters, Vicki (Gary) Grauel of South Bend, Donna (Edward) Cooper of Central Point, OR; brother, Robert (Lynne) Andrews of Chicago, IL; in-laws, Derril and Joyce Corbett of Granger; and a brother-in-law, William James Heiland of South Bend. Bill is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and loving wife, Debra, Bill is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert Heiland.

Memorial services will be held 3:00pm on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Palmer Funeral Homes-Welsheimer North Chapel, 17033 Cleveland Rd, South Bend, IN 46635. Friends may visit with the family starting at 1:00pm at the funeral home.
