Thomas Alan Beard, 66, residing in South Bend, passed away at 3:45 am Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in his home. He was born April 24, 1948 in South Bend to the late Eugene Beard and Dora (Wilcox) Herman Beard and remained a lifelong area resident.
Thomas served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked as a manager at G. L. Perry variety store in Niles, MI until retirement.
On June 1, 1969 in South Bend, Thomas married the former Susan Marie Churchia, who survives. He is also survived by sons, Thomas (Tonya) Beard and Joseph Beard; grandchildren, Rickey, Gabriel and Noah Beard; and a brother, Larry (Carol) Beard.
There will be no public services. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
