Dennis R. “Denny” Murphy

GOSHEN - With his wife and children surrounding him in love at Kindred Hospital in Mishawaka, Dennis R. “Denny” Murphy, Goshen, was called home Wednesday evening.

Born Dec. 16, 1947, Denny's life was full of adventure spanning his 69 years. After graduating from Clay High School in 1966, Denny served in the Army from 1967-69 where he received medals including Vietnam Service with two Bronze Stars, Sharpshooter, and Marksman. Denny held several positions being a factory laborer for 37 years at AM General in Mishawaka until retirement in 2012.

Denny's hobbies through the years included fishing, collecting knives, shooting guns, traveling historical America with his wife, Dotti, maintaining classic cars, playing cards, watching football, and going to the race track. Denny enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Bubba, Stephen, Julia May, Karissa, and Halie, and also spending time with his younger sisters, Nancy (Brian) Cool and Shirley (James) Johnson. Denny also very much enjoyed the wind in his hair as he flew down the road on his Harley.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Evelyn (Lowery) Murphy, his older brother, Edward Murphy, and his older sister, Patricia (Edward) Swinsick. He is also survived by his wife, Dotti, and his children including, Chris (Summer) Murphy and Tina (Steve) Blacklaw Jr., step-daughter, Niki (Mike) Tinkey, and his former wife, Jean (Robert) Beach.

Friends and family may visit Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka, from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5. Graveside services will be held at a later date with military honors. In lieu of flowers, Denny would have greatly appreciated donations to VFW Post 360 or to the American Lung Association.
