Pamela Nosko Abbate, 73, passed away at home in Wilmington, NC, on March 26, 2022 after a long, courageous battle with complications from Type 1 diabetes. She was preceded in death by her father, John Nosko. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Michael, her mother, Betty Nosko of Vincennes, IN, her children, Anthony Abbate (Barbara) of Hanover, NH and Jennifer Abbate Huffer (Maxcy) of Leland, NC; her sister Deborah Nosko Kolb (Jeffrey), her brother, Gary Nosko (Linda); and her 5 grandchildren: Liam Abbate, Angelo Abbate, Teddy Abbate, Hugh Abbate, and Vivienne Huffer.

Pamela was born on May 24, 1948, in South Bend, IN. She was the oldest of three children. A graduate of Clay High School, she attended Holy Cross Nursing School in South Bend, IN, where she graduated in 1969. For 41 years she lived in Crystal Lake, IL. She worked for 13 years as a nurse in an emergency room in McHenry, IL. She subsequently worked in an administrative role for United Healthcare. After retiring due to poor health, she volunteered at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) office in Chicago. In 2003, she was given the Generosity of Spirit Award for her work on behalf of JDRF. She moved with her husband Michael to the Wilmington, NC area in 2014.

She enjoyed crocheting, reading, travelling, gardening and making food for her family. She was an ardent fan of the Chicago Cubs.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

A celebration of life ceremony will take place in Wilmington, NC in June. Exact date to be determined.
