Mildred Luella (Hamilton) Lochmandy- Maney , 76, passed away following an extended illness in the comfort of her own home, 712 Honeysuckle Road NW, Gainesville, GA 30501, on Wednesday, Dec. 22.

Ms. Millie, as she liked to be called, was born on Feb. 15, 1923, in Carl Junction (Jasper County), Mo., the fourth of six children, to Jess L. and Mable L. (Grimes) Hamilton. Ms. Millie was raised in the South Bend, Ind., area where she graduated from Washington Clay High School. She met and married Robert Joseph Lochmandy on June 6, 1942. They resided in the area for many years until they moved to Ross, Ohio, in 1959. Widowed in 1961, she taught special education classes in the Hamilton County school system following her graduation from Miami University of Ohio. Upon her retirement she then toured Europe by train, and also the United States in an Airsteam travel trailer, seeing the wonders of the world at her own pace.

In 1983 she settled in Gainesville, Ga., where she met and married Doctor Paul Vance Maney . Together they traveled extensively, enjoying life to its fullest extent. Following the passing of Dr. Maney in December 1998, she enjoyed her home, family, and watched the birds feed from her deck while drinking her favorite coffee. She died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by those who loved her.

She leaves behind a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Gail Lochmandy of Gainesville, Ga.; a stepson, Paul A. Maney of Oakwood, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Julie Blanford of Houston, Texas; brothers and sisters include Paul Hamilton of California, Harry Hamilton of Arizona, Larry Hamilton of Indiana, Edna Mae Hicks and Blanche Swanson, both of Arkansas; sisters-in-law, Virginia Lochmandy of South Bend and Emma Walters of Bremen, Ind. Grandchildren include Belinda Lochmandy-Jacob, Heidi Lochmandy-Carroll and Buffy Lochmandy-Crupi, all of Georgia, Kelly Lochmandy and Ben Lochmandy of Ashland, Ohio; step-grandchildren, Lisa Neal and Peter Blanford of Texas, Melissa and Mindy Gerwig of Ohio, and Grain Gerwig of Georgia; great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Zachary Jacob, Eric and Courtney Carroll, and Kaylee Sample; step-great-grandchildren are Christian and Tommy Jacob, and Nathaniel and Caitlin Frederick; and also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their extensive families all over the USA.

Her brother, Carroll Hamilton, and her parents preceded her in death.

A memorial service is planned at Olive Chapel Church, New Carlisle, Ind., at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2000, and inurnment will be at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, immediately following the service.
