Clay 1980 Sandra (Leer) Sharp

SOUTH BEND - Sandra Lee Sharp, 53, residing in South Bend, IN, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. She was born December 28, 1962, in South Bend, a daughter of Fredrick D Leer & Alene (Walters) Leer, and had remained a lifelong resident of this area. Sandy was a graduate of Clay High School and attended Indiana University of South Bend.

On May 4, 2003, in Knox, Indiana, she was united in marriage to John M. Sharp, who survives. Also surviving are her mother, Alene Leer of South Bend; her son and daughter-in-law, Justin & Sarah Kollar of Osceola; two daughters, Amy (Josh) Hopper of South Bend and Heather Hopper of Buchanan, MI. Sandy is also survived by six grandchildren, Sean, Katherine, and Rebecca Kollar, Kaitlyn & Elijah Hopper, and Elaina Malcom; as well as her sister, Marsha (David) Darrow of Fort Wayne, IN.

Sandy was employed as a Unit Team Director at Westville Correctional Facility where she has worked for the past 27 years. And has been a fixture at the South Bend Farmers Market since 1991. She enjoyed spending time outside in her garden and tending to her chickens, and hunting mushrooms. She had a deep love for her family and animals.

Services celebrating the life of Sandy Sharp will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Andy Pazera will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
