SOUTH BEND - JoHanna O. Bast, 81, of Bloomington died Saturday, December 3, 2016 in Greenwood Village South, Greenwood. She was born January 11, 1935 in South Bend to Henry Brockenhamer and Elza Horvath Brockenhamer.

Survivors include her daughter, Gigi Beetz and her husband, Randy of Bloomington; a son, Michael Bast and his wife, Carla of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Alisha Brown (Richard), Branden Beetz, Corey Beetz, Alexander Bast and Jessica Bast; two great-grandchild, Brogyn Brown and Elliot Reynolds; and shewas soon to have another great-grandchild, Bearret Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Leonard J. Bast, Jr.

JoHanna was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Bloomington; she was a graduate of Clay High School in South Bend, an avid bowler but she made her family her top priority in life.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, December 9, 2016 at 10:30 AM in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 2222 E. Third St., with Father Thomas Kovatch officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third St.
