EDWARDSBURG - Robert Dean Armstead, 80, of Edwardsburg, MI, and Hubbard Hill Estates, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born December 23, 1936, in Mishawaka, to Harold & Yetta (Rhoades) Armstead.

On May 31, 1978, in Edwardsburg, he married Debbie Kay Lavery. She survives along with six children, Jeff (Pam) Armstead of Edwardsburg, Deb Sutherland of South Bend, Tammy (Jay) Green of Westfield, IN, Jerry (Shawn) Johnson of Elkhart, Joni Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO, Jeff (Lindsey) Johnson of Edwardsburg; twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara (Larry) Crawford of South Bend; a brother, Ron (Vicki) Armstead of Walkerton, IN; and a special friend, Audrey, who resides at Hubbard Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, James.

Robert graduated from Clay High School in South Bend in 1954. He was a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge #599. At Hubbard Hill he enjoyed playing Bingo with his friends. and in his younger years he liked playing softball, deer hunting, fishing and bowling. Robert worked for Federal Paperboard and also for LARO Corporation.

A celebration of life gathering for Robert will be on Saturday, August 12, 2017, from 2-5 p.m. at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to Hubbard Hill Estates in memory of Bob.
