Charles Jack Jr Emmons

Charles Jack Emmons Jr.

Jul.13, 1941 - Nov. 20, 2022

We are sad to announce the passing of Charles Jack Emmons Jr. CPA CFE of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He died at age 81 on November 20, 2022. Jack passed away from natural causes surrounded by loved ones.

Born July 13, 1941 in South Bend, Indiana, son of Charles Jack Emmons Sr. and Jean Lorene MacGregor Emmons.

Jack graduated from Ball State University and later received his Master's degree from the University of New Mexico. His career as a Certified Public Accountant in Albuquerque spanned over 50 years and included being a Certified Fraud Examiner, professor at the University of New Mexico teaching auditing to graduate students and Deputy State Auditor of New Mexico. Jack was on the New Mexico State Board of Accountancy, Board Member of NASBA and a subject matter expert helping to explain complicated accounting details in laymen terms. He attempted a short-lived retirement in 2008, but quickly returned to doing what he loved for another 11 years before finally retiring in 2019.

Jack was fortunate to find a career in a field that he loved, auditing and teaching meant that he never worked a day in his life. Golf, fishing and traveling the world were his favorite forms of relaxation and his family was his greatest pride and joy.

In 1961 Jack married Jackie Sue Drown and had three sons: Robert, Tom and Charlie (deceased in 1999). In his second marriage to Patsy Hawkins, his fourth son Matthew was born. He married Barbara Rose in the early 80's and her son Barry became a permanent part of the family and Jack's fifth son.

In 1985 Jack met his soul mate Joy Shoaf and were married in 1986. Over their 35 years of marriage their love together grew to embrace others into the Emmons Family fold exemplifying Richard Bach's quote in the book Illusions, "The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life."

Jack is survived by his wife Joy, sons: Robert and husband Terry, Tom and wife Erin, Matt and wife Tracy, Barry and wife Roxy, daughter-in-law Kim, 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, his sisters Kathleen and Jeanie and niece Rhonda and nephew Robert.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Daniels Family Funeral & Cremation, Wyoming Chapel, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87109 on Monday, November 28th at 2:00. Reception to follow.
