Daniel R Rhoades
April 11, 1961 ~ July 31, 2023 (age 62)
Daniel Raymond Rhoades was born in South Bend, Indiana on April 11, 1961. He passed away July 31, 2023 in New York City. His beloved parents were Paul and Eleanor (Swisher) Rhoades who preceded him in passing. His beloved sister Mari Louise Rhoades passed away in 2021. He is survived by his Domestic Partner Donald Griewank of New York City.
He graduated from Clay High School and attended Holy Cross Junior College.
His first employment was at Hudson Department Store at the University Park Mall. He moved to New York City in 1982 and held several positions starting with Nat Sherman on Fifth Avenue, New York City. He started his design career at Evyan Perfume where is undertook window designs at their several stores. He also held design positions at Housing Works, Workbench and at Kentshire Galleries. It was at Kentshire he assisted in the photoshoot of Kentshire owners, Bob and Ellen Israel's Long Island home. He is mentioned in the June 2002 issue of Architectual Digest.
For a few short years he was an independent interior designer at his own firm Daniel R. Rhoades Design.
His last position was with the Ralph Lauren Home Collections store on Madison Avenue in NYC.
He is survived by his partner and by many, many friends and cousins.
Visitation for Daniel will be held from 10 am until 10:30 am on Friday September 1, 2023 at the Palmer Funeral Homes-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 am with burial to follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Daniel’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
