Beatrice LaFern Robinson (Samuels)

Beatrice LaFern Samuels

Nov. 4, 1930 - Mar. 18, 2016

MISHAWAKA - Beatrice (Bea) Samuels died at home on March 19, surrounded by family. She was born November 4, 1930 to Clarence Robinson and Helen Molnar. She lived in Mishawaka nearly all her life. She married James (Red) Samuels in November of 1948.

Together they raised five children, Shelley, Kathy, Karen, James and John and hosted many gatherings for their eleven grandchildren at their Mishawaka home. She weathered the Palm Sunday Tornadoes of 1965 and cared for a home that withstood cold decades on the Indiana plains. She worked with Red to found Red's Repair Shop in 1970, which they successfully ran together for many years. She cared tenderly for her husband in his final days and helped with the care of her beloved grandchildren in her own.

Bea loved to fish with Red, to ice skate, and never turned down an invitation to a Notre Dame Basketball game. She harbored strong opinions on everything from the Colts to California, and cherished memories of her travels to Alaska, Lake Tahoe and Europe. She was born in difficult times and left comfortably, surrounded by the successes of her constant labors. She leaves a legacy of hard work and devotion to family that we will tend to and pass down through generations to come.
