Judith Doba died Friday morning, April 21, 2006, in her home in Pullman, Washington.

She was born December 31, 1940, in South Bend, Indiana, to John and Mildred (Poorman) Claycomb. She graduated from Ball State Teachers College (now Ball State University) with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and then with a Master's Degree in reading from St. Francis College. She also did post-graduate work at Indiana, Purdue and Washington State Universities. She taught for 15 years in elementary schools in Indiana and South Carolina, teaching first and second grades, Title I Reading and children with learning disabilities.

Judy moved to Pullman, Washington, in 1989, with her husband Bill, when he joined the football staff at Washington State University. In Pullman, Judy worked for nine years for the WSU Athletic Department at the Student Advising and Learning Center as a counselor and learning specialist. Since retiring in 2000, Judy had volunteered in the Pullman community at Franklin Elementary School, with the United Way Board, Kiwanis and Pullman Regional Hospital. She served as the 2005-06 president of the Pullman Regional Hospital Auxiliary.

A private graveside service and celebration of Judy's life will be held in South Bend, Indiana.

Judy enjoyed celebrating life with friends, entertaining, walking, reading, knitting and sewing for family and friends.

Judy is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bill Doba of Pullman, Washington; their son, Scott Doba and his wife, Rachel, of Danville, Indiana; daughters, Lizabeth Crawford and her husband, Ken, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Kristin Chitty and her husband, Brent, of Evansville, Indiana; grandchildren, Erin, William, Jonathan and Samuel Crawford, and Taylor and Parker Chitty; her sister, Susan and her husband, Alfred Goff, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and a brother-in-law, Bud Doba and his wife, Pat, of Warren, Michigan.

Private family services will be held today.

Donations in Judy's memory may be made to the PRH Auxiliary for patient comfort, PRH Auxiliary, c/o Pullman Regional Hospital, 835 SE Bishop Blvd., Pullman, Washington 99163; to United Way of Pullman, 425 East Main, Pullman, Washington 99163; or to Saint Thomas More Catholic Newman Center, 820 NE B Street, Pullman, Washington 99163.
