Elaine E. (Pratt) Whitfield
Elaine E. Whitfield, 83, South Bend, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023, in Primrose Retirement community.
Elaine was born on January 29, 1940, in Plymouth, Indiana as the daughter of the late LeRoy and Erma (Lemler) Pratt.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Diane Liggett; one brother, Allen Pratt; and her beloved husband, Lawson Whitfield.
She is survived by her children, Julie (Douglas) Sisco of South Bend and her son, Michael (Jennifer) Whitfield of Foster City, CA; four grandchildren, Nathan Sisco, Colin Sisco, Isobel Whitfield and Lawson Whitfield; and two sisters, Joan Walton of Shawnee, KS, and Betty Vance of Kannapolis, NC.
Elaine was a proud housewife for much of her life, but spent some time employed in part-time jobs at L.S. Ayres and as a receptionist at WSBT in South Bend for several years until her retirement. She was also an active member of First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka for over 50 years.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 29th from 3:00 pm– 7:00 pm in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka and an hour before the funeral service. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, September 30th at 10:30 am at First United Methodist Church, 201 E. 3rd Street, Mishawaka with Reverend Joyce Kuhn officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
