Robert D. Swanson
Robert D. Swanson, 85, passed away on November 19, 2023 at Southfield Village, in South Bend, IN where he had been a resident since 2021.
Bob was born on August 28, 1938 in Red Oak, Iowa to Irene Bessie Hendrickson and Carl Raynor Swanson. On November 21, 1959 in South Bend he married Karen Kay Stephens who survives. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on November 21, 2023. Bob and Karen were owners of LC Typesetting Co. until their retirement in 2011.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald (Norma) Swanson and Jerry Swanson and brother-in-law Keith Rigby. He is survived by brother Dennis (Karole) Swanson of Niles, MI, brother Michael (Eleanor) Swanson of South Bend, sister Susan Rigby of South Bend, son Sterling Swanson and daughter Lisa (Mark) Ellam. One granddaughter, Jennifer (Chad) Worvey, Niles, MI and three grandsons, Garrett (Andrea) Swanson, Benjamin (Krista) Ellam and Andrew Ellam all of South Bend. Bob was a loving great-grandfather to seven great-grandsons.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 27, 2023 at Palmer Funeral Home, Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road at 3:00pm. Memorial service will follow at 4:00pm.
