Kenneth E. “Pete” Turrell

Former Clay Township Assessor Kenneth E. "Pete" Turrell of Shanower Home, Mishawaka, formerly of South Bend died at 10:00 pm.m Wednesday, January 2, 2002 in St. Joseph Community Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. Turrell was born February 4, 1923 in North Liberty, Ind., to John O. and Dora (Hullinger) Turrell and was a lifetime area resident.

He is survived by two daughters, Janice (Roger) hunthausen of Mesa, Ariz., and Lindsay J. (Roy) Fetters of Granger, Ind.; two grandsons, Bradley Fetters and Ian Hunthausen; and a brother, James R. turrell of South Bend.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard F. turrell on March 27, 1973.

Pete retired in 1992 as Clay Township Assessor after 30 years. He was a member of the Clay Township Lions Club and the Clay Republican Club. He was a Veteran of the US Army during World War II.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 7th in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road with Rev. Ronald Drake of Forestbrook Missionary Church officiating. Burial will follow at St. joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service Monday in the funeral home.
