Janice A Tebo (Romine)

Janice Ann Romine, 81, passed away on Wednesday morning, August 18, 2021 at her home in South Bend, IN. She was born on June 14, 1940 in South Bend, to Alvin and Clara (Kincaid) Tebo, both of whom preceded her in death.

On October 26, 1957 in South Bend, Janice married Carl E. Romine, who preceded her in death on October 14, 2013, after fifty-five years of marriage.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Susan (Elvin) Johnson of South Bend; son, Larry (Cheryl) Romine of Granger, IN; son-in-law, Bob Martin of South Bend; grandchildren, Joshua (Melissa) Johnson, Jennifer (Gabriel) Bryant, Vince Romine, Charles (Kelsey) Romine, Jack (Becca) Romine, Brittany (Tim) Wiska, and Toni (Henry) Versmesse; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Tebo of Henderson, KY, and Alice Haeb of South Bend; and many nieces and nephews. Janice is also survived by her special lifelong friend, Sue Lamson, who came daily to visit with devotions and prayers. In addition to her parents and husband, Janice was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Martin on July 3, 2020, as well as her sister, Mary Simmerman, and her brother, Edgar Tebo.

Janice was employed as an administrative professional in the medical office of Dr. Alfred Cox. She retired from this position at the age of 80, after more than forty years of service. Prior to this, Janice had been employed by Hickory Farms as district manager, traveling around northern Indiana, while opening and managing accounts for regional stores. During this time, Janice was a member of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA).

For most of her life, Janice was an active member of Community Congregational Church in South Bend. She participated as a member in the Dobelles Women’s Group, served on the Deaconess Board, and played an active role in the youth group. Most recently, Janice attended Clay Church in South Bend. She also served on the board for the Sandalwood Homeowners Association.

Janice tirelessly served as a caregiver to her husband, Carl, for thirty years. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and cuddling the babies. She always looked forward to the family dinners on Friday nights.

Her family would like to thank the Center for Hospice Care for their amazing staff and their attentive care to the entire family.

Funeral services for Janice will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00am-1:00pm on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
