SOUTH BEND - John Edmund Braden, 63, residing in Draper, Utah, and formerly of South Bend, passed away in his home on Thursday, March 21, 2013. He was born Sept. 27, 1949, in Niles, MI, to J. Theodore and Ruth (Zimmerman) Braden.

He was preceded in death by his father, and several aunts and uncles. John is survived by his mother, Ruth Braden of South Bend; his sister, Barbara Braden of North Hollywood, CA; his brother, Terry (Suzanne) Braden of Edwardsburg, MI; his niece, Jennifer Braden of Edwardsburg, MI; his nephew, Christopher (Michelle) Braden of South Bend; and their daughter, Gabrielle.

John graduated from Clay High School in 1968 and Purdue University in 1973. He worked for several construction companies during his career, including Limbach, Inc., Gilbane Development Co. of Milwaukee, WI, and CCI and Jacobson Contracting of Salt Lake City, UT. He retired as a construction manager. He loved fishing and camping with lifelong friends, Chuck Hums, Rick Couron, Jerry Nordyke, and his nephew, Chris.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday, March 28, 2013, in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, with Rev. Ed Erskin officiating. Friends may visit with the Braden family from 10:00 am until services time in the funeral home on Thursday. Contributions in memory of John may be donated to Trout Unlimited, P.O.
