David James McWhortor

Jan. 17, 1955 - Dec. 13, 2013

Dave McWhortor, 58 of Fountain Hills, Arizona, passed away on December 21, 2013. Dave was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and was raised in South Bend, Indiana.

An avid sports fan, he always waved a flag for his Notre Dame Irish and Chicago Cubs. He graduated college from Purdue in 1977, and married Jacki Presnal in 1984. They had one child, Andrew, born in 1988. In 1986, Dave's Dad asked him to move to metro Phoenix, where he lived the rest of his life. In addition to working for his Dad, Dave worked for several years as a Scoring Director at Pearson. He was a runner, completing a marathon just two years ago. His most lasting legacy are his novels, the first of which was finally published in November: "The Spires of Tarkus," available from Amazon.

He is also survived by his mother Velma, his brothers, Mike of Cordova, Tennessee, and Pat of Phoenix, Arizona; nephews, Sean, Nathan, Joshua, and Colin, and niece Amanda.

A celebration of his life will begin at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th, at the National Comedy Theatre, 1111 S. Longmore, in Mesa, Arizona. Pay tribute by ordering Dave's book at www.amazon.com, or by making a gift in his name to your favorite charity. We will always remember his puns, his creativity and his dedication.
