Gloria Jean Trader

1958 ~ October 2025

Gloria Jean Trader, 67, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully in the loving care of Hospice of Mishawaka and The Caring Cottage group home.

Gloria dedicated 37 years to Fountain View Nursing Home, where she worked as a cook and was known for her reliability, kindness, and warm spirit. Her colleagues and friends will remember her unwavering dedication and the care she put into every meal she prepared.

In her free time, Gloria took great pride in her yard and loved spending time outdoors. She enjoyed playing games of all kinds and was a devoted member of a weekly mahjong group. A frequent visitor to Las Vegas, Gloria’s competitive spirit and sense of fun always shone through.

She is survived by her loving mother, Norma Jean Trader of South Bend, and her brother, Charles Trader (Peggy) of Ponte Vedra, Florida. Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Charles “Ed” Trader (1988), and her beloved partner of 25 years, Pat.

Gloria will be remembered for her attention to detail, her strong work ethic, and her love for those close to her. Her family and friends take comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who went before her.

Funeral services for Gloria will be held on Tuesday, October 28, at Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN 46635. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, followed by a Chapel Service at 12:00 noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Potawatomi Zoo South Bend, Indiana — a place that brought Gloria joy throughout her life.
