Christopher N Culbertson, 28, died March 12 while working on a cure for brain cancer in Birmingham, England.
He was born Feb. 11, 1976, to Dr. Kenneth and Sally Culbertson in South Bend.

Culbertson was salutatorian at Clay High School, graduating in 1994. He studied at Purdue University, earning his bachelor of science in Nuclear Engineering in 1999, his masters of nuclear engineering in 2002, and his doctorate in the same year.

He spent time at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico during his undergraduate years. While working in New Mexico, Culbertson became an avid hiker. After learning to play the saxophone in elementary school band, Culbertson would later teach himself to play guitar, even joining a band in England. He built computers and even created his own website which his family invites you to visit at helio.ecn.purdue.edu/~Culberts.

In July, Chris moved to England where he would continue research in the field of radiation therapy for brain cancer.

Culbertson was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his mother, Sally of South Bend; a sister, Mrs. Jennifer (Joseph) Arthur of Denver; and two brothers, Jeffrey C. of Denver and Bradley W. of Peoria.
