Padraic Deane Moran - Class Of 1990 VIEW PROFILE

Padraic Deane Moran

Padraic Deane Moran

December 28, 1971 ~ August 23, 2025

Pádraic Deane Moran died Saturday, August 23, at Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was 53.

Known as Paddy to his friends and family, Pádraic was a lifelong resident of the Near West Side neighborhood in downtown South Bend. He attended Clay High School, marching in the band as a tenor sax, playing football, and graduating in 1990. Paddy went on to attend Notre Dame for a time before completing his Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology from IUSB.

Paddy loved fireworks, often celebrating New Year’s Eve and the Fourth of July for days with his own display in the street in front of his house. A fan of the Fighting Irish, he regularly accompanied his mother to home football games throughout his life. "Classic" Coke, a Vito sandwich from Jimmy John's, and Wonder Woman were a few of his favorite things. Neighbors shoveling out after a snowstorm had been known to look up to find Paddy having arrived with his own shovel, unbidden, helping quietly alongside them.

Paddy was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Moran, in 2018; his mother, Noreen Deane Moran passed away in February of this year.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2025 in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.  Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Kaniewski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
