In Memory
Colletta Jean (Wells) Hunt
September 16, 1929 ~ July 26, 2025 (age 95)
Colletta J. (Wells) Hunt, age 95, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on July 26, 2025. Born on September 16, 1929, in South Bend, IN, to the late William Wells and Mildred Martino, she was a beacon of warmth and the matriarch of her cherished family.
Colletta’s journey through life was one of devotion and love. She married the love of her life, Richard Hunt, on February 4, 1949, in Mishawaka, and together they built a life full of joy and lasting memories until his passing in 1981. A proud graduate of South Bend Washington-Clay High School, Class of 1947, Colletta dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker—a role she cherished and honored with every fiber of her being.
Her home was always filled with laughter, the smell of home-cooked meals, and the never-ending warmth of her presence. Colletta's children, Valeria Maike, Melodye Drake, Beth (Matt) Laidig, Richard (Ludy) Hunt, and Randy (Theresa) Hunt, were her pride and joy. She was preceded in death by her sisters Jeri Mickleson, Andrea Wells, and Cleona Dhaisy; her brother Timothy Wells; as well as her son-in-law Charles, each held a special place in her heart that will be forever adorned with loving memories.
Colletta was a woman of many interests, with a keen mind for crossword puzzles and a love for reading that was only matched by her love for animals. However, the cornerstone of her life was, without a doubt, her family. The role of ‘Grandma’ was one she relished, spreading her love and wisdom to her loving grandchildren Michelle (Lonny), Melissa (Jason), Kathleen, Amanda, Ashley (Cody), Brittany (Justin), Tiffany (Austin), Tyler (Natalie), Roxanne, Jacob, Jami, and the joyous laughter of her 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love, strength, and family values will live on through each of them.
A graveside service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola will take place on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 1 p.m. Pastor Wyatt Smith will officiate the services.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Colletta’s name to The Center for Hospice Raclin House 501 Comfort Pl. Mishawaka, IN 46545.
