Barbara Ellen (Brown) Searles

Niles, MI--Barbara Ellen Searles, 80, of, Niles, passed peacefully in the presence of her husband, May 27, 2025. Her life began October 5, 1944, in Mishawaka, born to Virgil and Beatrice Brown. She married Warren Searles October 12, 1963 in Bertrand Bible Church, Niles.

Barbara grew up in Mishawaka/South Bend and graduated from Clay High School in 1963. She worked at Brandywine High School in the cafeteria for many years. Barbara was known as the “Avon Lady” in her area. Making many friendships along the way. She was a Cub Scout Den mother for her boys and volunteered for any of their activities that needed a “Mom”. Barbara loved to cook and decorate for every holiday. Baking cakes and doing crafts were favorite past times. Barbara was a loving, nurturing grandma, who never missed any activity for her children or grandchildren.

Barbara will be missed by family and friends. She is survived by her husband Warren Searles; two sons, Michael LeRoy (Angie) Searles, Doug DeWayne (Dawn) Searles; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria (Denny) Cain, Imogene (Kevin) Kruszewski and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ronald Brown and her son Warren James Searles Jr.
