The Orvis-Palmer Funeral arrangements is handling funeral arrangements for Ensign William C. Robinson, 24, former resident of South Bend and Diamond Lake who died Sunday aboard a U.S. Navy submarine in the Philippines. Robinson was stationed at Subic Bay in the Philipines, where he served as assistant platton commander and navigator delivery vehicle underwater where he servered as assistant platoon commander and navigator of the swimmer deliver vehicle assigned to the underwater demolition team.
He was born on July 6, 1957, in Coronado, Calif. and lived in South Bend for several years.
He was a 1976 graduate of Clay High School and a 1980 graduate of Indiana University at South Bend. He had also been involved in the ROTC Program of Notre Dame.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robinson of Diamond Lake, Cassopolis; three sisters, Georgia Stout of South Bend; Herbert (Laura) Haute, and Mrs. Joseph (Peggy) Hunter of Colorado Springs, Colo; his maternal grandmother Ruth Corregan of Mishawaka; his paternal grandmother Helen Eddy of Sarasota, Florida.
