Orlin R. "Mac" Hurley, 82, of South Bend, Ind., died at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, in his daughter's residence in Goshen, Ind.

He was born on July 1, 1922, in Niles, Mich., to the late Carrie (Janicke) and Roy James Hurley.

On Oct. 14, 1950, in South Bend, he married Frances Hanefeld, who survives. Mr. Hurley is also survived by a daughter, Bonnie (Randy) Rush of Goshen; three sons, Tim (Toni) Hurley of Florida, Brian (Linda) Hurley of Mishawaka and Randy Hurley of South Bend; a stepson, Ritchie (Janice) Hanefeld of South Bend; and nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hurley retired from the Bendix Corporation and had worked at the Oliver plant in South Bend. He was a 50-year member of the Council Oak Masonic Lodge #745 F&AM and was also a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend. He was a member of the former VFW Post 624, Roseland, and was an MP during World War II, serving in Blackpool, England.

Services for Mr. Hurley will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Rev. Ronald Drake, pastor of Forestbrook Missionary Church, South Bend, will conduct the funeral services. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care of Elkhart County, 2901 E. Bristol Street, Elkhart, IN 46514.

The family would like to give special thanks to Stephanie and all the people at Hospice.
