Richard E. Dudley, 65, of 702 E. John St., died at 5:07 a.m. Friday in Bremen Health Care after an illness. He was born on June 12, 1939, in South Bend, Ind., to Earl Dudley and Virginia Stutzman. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Beck, whom he married on Sept.12, 1964, and who passed away on March 29, 1991; and by a sister, Sue Kroger.

He was president of Earllynn Electronics in Wakarusa for 21 years. Prior to that had worked at CTS for 22 years. Since retirement had worked at Amish Acres. He was a Air Force veteran, and a graduate of South Bend Washington Clay High School and a lifetime resident.

Member of First Brethren Church where he was a Sunday School teacher, former member of Wakarusa Missionary church where he served as treasurer and was a Sunday school teacher. Member of Wakarusa Chamber of Commerce. Former member of the Olive Township Advisory Board. He had been a volunteer and coordinator for the Nappanee Little Paws Playground. Former Boy Scot Leader, and former grief counselor with Rieth, Rohrer, Ehret Funeral Home and was instrumental in starting a grief support group at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home.

In June 1992 in Nappanee he married Jeanie Culp Gall who survives. He is also survived by a son, Steve (Janet) Dudley of Goshen; a daughter, Jennifer (Paul) Kern of Wakarusa; a stepson, Steve (Kristi) Gall of Nappanee; a stepdaughter, Stephanie (Mike) Miller of Henderson, Nev.; six grandchildren, Elizabeth and Scott Kern, Carly and Zachary Miller and Kylee and Makenna Gall; and his father-in-law, Fred Culp.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in First Brethren Church, with Rev. Tom Scheifer of pastor officiating. Friends called from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
