Lucretia Marie (Stroup) Martindale

January 30, 1954 — December 4, 2022

Lucretia Marie Martindale, 68, of Kite, Ga, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin.

Ms. Martindale was born January 30, 1954, in South Bend, IN to Richard Beryl Stroup and Agnes McCreary Stroup. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Martindale or Marie, as she was better known, went to Clay High School in South Bend, Indiana.  She graduated in 1972 and furthered her education at Bethel College where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and went on to get her master’s degree.  In 1987, she began a long teaching career with Johnson County Schools and Laurens County Schools.  Marie Martindale loved teaching children and helping people.  She was of the Methodist Faith.

Survivors include her son, Richard Martindale of Kite; sister, Patricia Clare (Patrick) of Greer, SC; nephew, Travis Stroup of Kite; cousin, Nancy Mohler of Denver, CO.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2022, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Burton Dixon officiating. Interment will follow in Kite City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Claxton, Frank Davis, Julian Thigpen, Nick Ivey, Donald Peebles, and John Blount.
