NILES - A memorial service for Edward Albert Bogue, 89, of Lake Barrington Woods of Barrington (formerly of Paris, IL, and Niles, MI) will be scheduled at a later date in Paris. Born September 23, 1917, he passed away July 24, 2007.

Ed was the plant manager of Meco Inc. in Paris from 1963 until 1997. He retired at age 80. He was born and lived in Chicago until his family moved to South Bend in the early 1930s. He lived on Cleveland Road in South Bend and attended Washington-Clay High School.

Prior to college, Ed played the coronet in his own supper club dance band with a "Big Band" sound known as "Ed Bogue and His Scintillating Music." During WWII, at the age of 23, Ed supported the war effort by running a war industries plant in Chicago. Later he resided in Niles where he was part-owner of ETC Inc., an electronics company. Ed and his family owned and operated a showcase dairy farm north of Niles on Pucker Street Road. While in Niles, he was involved in Youth 4-H, the Berrien County Youth Fair and raising and promoting the American Quarter Horse Breed. He was a member of the Pucker Street School board. He graduated from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1940. Always an advocate for education in general, Ed remained interested and active with alumni functions at Kettering University.

He was the beloved husband of the late Marjorie Claire (nee Snapp) Bogue; devoted father of Toni Sharron Bogue, the late Timothy Edward Bogue, Tamara Bogue (Jim) Voris and Tania Suzanne (John) Allman. Other survivors include his nine grandchildren, Kimberly Lyn (nee Behrman) Clark, Kellie Sharron (nee Behrman) Jackson, Stefanie (nee Barth) Lemon, Blake Lee (Ali) Barth, Rhett Lee (Kerri) Barth, Stacey Weisman Bogue (Mike) Foster, John Bogue Allman, Lindsay Allman and Claire Bogue Voris; his four great-grandchildren, Jessica Danielle Hess, David Wesley Hess, Douglas Wesley Jackson and Ayla Grace Bowers; and his five great-great-grandchildren, Jillian Nicole Bartlett, Jocelyn Claire Boyle, Mitchell Lee Barth, Ava Suzanne Lemon and Austin Gallegher Lemon.

He was the loving son of the late Leonard Edward and Lillie Mae (nee Yetter) Bogue; dear brother of the late Robert Orin Bogue, the late Betty Mae (nee Bogue) Mixtacki and Thomas Leonard Bogue. Memorials in Edward Bogue's name in lieu of flowers may be made to Kettering University, General Scholarship Fund, 1700 W Third Ave., Flint, MI 48504.
